quazarz came to the earth from somewhere else, a musical ambassador from his place to ours. somehow, through fire or through fury, the palaceer of shabazz palaces caught wind of the tale, and it is through his prism that we hear the story. the beach was there, and atlaantiis, and chemical alterations and cell memories and andre norton, richard k. morgan, and always octavia butler. there were killings and there were votes, and brutality in both. there was sound and there were other worlds, and there was a vastness so participation sometimes came only at the edges. and the palaceer coasted down with the alien notion, like quazarz, and so became. on quazarz when they look at this place they see the inhabitants, the humans, but they don’t assess as we do. and so quazarz was sent to meet a cat with vibration, a creative and courageous, caring, compassionate dude that stood out. the dude was a drug dealer, but that was neither here nor there, until his dealings squashed the rendezvous, leaving our alien alone to figure out what this place is really all about. the vinyl release includes a download code.

what does teen spirit smell like, anyway? it might smell something like noise addict. like the real life stars of some sort of choose-your-own-adventure book about pursuing rock stardom, few bands ever led a more charmed existence, springing from the sydney suburb of bondi into seemingly overnight international fame as friends and collaborators of sonic youth, fugazi, and the beastie boys. through a combination of relentless drive, luck, and an admirable lack of self-doubt, noise addict spanned puberty to surpass the haters and join radio birdman and nick cave as a strange but permanent piece of australian punk history.
compiled here are 25 tracks, including their evan dando-worshipping satire “i wish i was him,” the thurston moore produced demo, choice cuts from their grand royal-issued ep and lp, and covers of “let’s lynch the landlord” and “back in your life.” the entire sordid adolescent tale is covered in incredible detail inside the black and white 16 page zine. and finally, for the first time in the history of record pressing, and for no good reason at all, the cover for 10.000 kids with guitars doubles as a working chalkboard.

hidhawk is the musical alter ego of haydeé jiménez. the mexican-based artist and cultural entrepreneur is running a busy life organizing events and cultural projects alongside the border of mexico and the us. during the night, bedtime stories like alpagain evolve from the field recordings she is collecting on her various journeys. alpagain consists of recordings from istanbul, tijuana, berlin and salzburg, featuring sounds of alpine instruments such as the alphorn, ocarina and hammered dulcimer (hackbrett). the 15 minutes track is brought to the club context on the b-side of the record with a driving remix by gerald peklar and a dub retreatment by analog solutions mastermind eduardo de la calle.

recorded at johns last night at the vagabond nightclub in downtown miami during this years miami music week, live in miami features 37 tracks and nearly 4 hours of the very best underground electronic music, spanning across more than two decades. showcasing a wide selection of new and classic records ranging from as far back as 1992 (secret knowledge - sugar daddy) and 1993 (nicole - a small entrance to a large spectrum and laurent garnier - acid eiffel) digweeds latest opus effortlessly takes us through a vast array of sounds, eras and genres from what was an incredibly special night back in march of this year.

powder is a young producer raised in rural japan, now living in tokyo. she wakes daily at 6am, squeezes onto a packed subway and commutes to a bland office building where her day is consumed by the electronics industry — a banal world of blank stares, uniforms, data entry and soliciting phone calls. she cherishes her lunch break, a solitary hour of astral projection where her daydreams cull inspiration for another life, her nocturnal routine. at 9pm the day closes, as her co-workers flock to the izakaya for beers, powder rushes to her micro home-studio to exorcize her daily demons, constructing a tropical temple to house her immaculate vision. she slaves away, unabashed until sunrise, when her routine begins again, however, todays lunch break is an escape into her headphones where she will revisit her soundtrack inspired by lights, colors, hometown memories, and the imaginary worlds where the fruits of her labour will live.

it has been a while since jaxson & david keno have been on keno records but it was worth the wait. calippo is an absolute banger. driven by this oldschool deep bassline climaxing in a breakdown filled with detroit strings this track already rocked many dancefloors all over the world. oliver schories takes it down a notch, gets rid of the strings and takes it into a more melancholic direction but still very danceable. the remix from adrian martin pushes calippo even a bit more in the tech house direction.

just in time for this years festive celebrations, the imprint curated by merseyside edits maestro greg wilson returns with the tape-tapping talent of fingerman. real name gregg holmes, wilson first thought his fingerman pseudonym was inspired by a character from v for vendetta, the cult graphic novel by alan moore, but he was in fact so called after creating a weird stop motion video on a mobile phone about a shouting finger. thankfully his studio work is less peculiar: years of spinning techno in the mid-90s giving way more recently to an going love affair with funk, soul and disco nuggets.
